Heath Ogawa Named Forester Athlete of the Week

Lake Forest College diver Heath Ogawa was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after breaking a pair of program records at Saturday's Illinois-Michigan Quadrangular at Hope College.

Ogawa, a freshman, finished second in the 3-meter competition and later first in the 1-meter event. His six-dive score of 294.80 off the higher board broke the program's oldest record of 286.20 points, set by Lake Forest College Hall of Fame member Guy Stehley on January 30, 1980. Ogawa tallied 297.75 points in six dives off the 1-meter board, shattering Stehley's mark of 271.00 set eight days after his 3-meter mark.

Ogawa's performances this seaosn have qualified him for the NCAA Division III Central Region Diving Meet at Denison University February 26-27. The top handful of performers at the competition will advance to the NCAA Championship Meet.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
