Five members of the Lake Forest College swimming & diving teams traveled to the University of Chicago on Saturday to compete in the Midwest Invitational. Highlighting their performance was sophomore Sam Freedberg's 100-butterfly time of 51.57 seconds.

Freedberg had ranked fifth in team history in the event before Saturday but passed a pair of athletes, including current assistant coach Mike Mackin, move into third place. He finished fifth out of 14 swimmers in the race.

Senior Jessica Hanch closed out her career by placing eighth in the 100-breaststroke (1:14.09) and sophomore Orion Huey finished fourth in the 100-backstroke (53.90). Freshman Maggie Kroeger completed her 200-backstroke time trial in 2:13.67 and junior Kristofer Korth was disqualified during his time trial attempt to improve on his NCAA B-Cut qualifying time in the 200-breaststroke.

The Foresters' next competition will be the NCAA Division III Regional Diving Competition at the University of Chicago next weekend. Seniors Christina and Sarah Pekar will compete off both boards at the Friday-Saturday meet.
