Lake Forest College swimmer Simona Kurta was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Tuesday for her performance in the Foresters' 151-70 dual meet victory over visiting Lawrence University on Saturday.

Kurta, a freshman, began the meet by joining senior Kelsie Miller, sophomore Lauren Dalecky, and freshman Victoria Karker on the Forester women's 200m-medley relay team that broke the pool record with a time of 2:05.75. They finished nearly 11 seconds ahead of Lawrence in the race.

Kurta also won both of her individual events on the day, completing the 200m-IM in 2:31.80 and the 100m-freestyle in 1:02.02. Her margin of victory in the two races combined was more than nine seconds.

The owner of the Foresters' fastest 100-butterfly of the season, Kurta also ranks among the top three on the team in the 50-, 100-, and 200-freestyle, 200-butterfly, and 200-IM. She is also listed among the conference leaders in four individual events and was on two Lake Forest relays that rank first in the conference.

MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's director of media and information.
