Zachary Wenner Named MWC Performer of the Week

Lake Forest College swimmer Zachary Wenner was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Tuesday for his performance at the University of Chicago's Phoenix Fall Classic the previous weekend.

Wenner, a senior, began the meet by anchoring the 200-medley relay, which placed sixth in 1:40.42, the fastest time in the conference this season. He also led off the 800-freestyle relay that placed fifth in 7:11.56 and anchored 400-freestyle relay that was sixth in 3:15.82. Both Lake Forest relays rank first in the league.

Three of Wenner's individual performances also put him atop the MWC rankings. He finished seventh in the 500-freestyle in 4:54.01, placed tied-for-ninth in the 100-freestyle in 48.47 seconds, and led off the 800-freestyle relay with a 200-freestyle time of 1:46.02.

The Foresters' third-place finish in the eight-team meet was their best in five appearances at the meet.

Midwest Conference Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information director. Wenner also earned the award once as a freshman.
