Five Foresters Earn All-MWC Honors

The Midwest Conference announced the 2023 All-MWC Softball Teams on its website on Tuesday and five Lake Forest College players were recognized.

Senior right fielder Elena Chrisman was one of the Foresters' three First Team All-MWC honorees after leading the league with four home runs, 42 total bases, a .977 slugging percentage, and 1.537 OPS during the 16-game conference schedule. She also ranked among the top five among MWC regulars with 21 hits, 18 runs scored, 16 runs batted in, 7 doubles, a .488 batting average, and a .560 on-base percentage.

Sophomore second baseman Kelly Collins was also a First Team All-MWC honoree as an at-large selection. After missing the first four conference games due to injury, she batted .516 and posted a .568 on-base percentage and .613 slugging percentage in the final 12 contests. Collins also scored eight runs and drove in eight during MWC play.

Joining Chrisman and Collins on the first team is freshman Kyla Chevalier as a utility player. Primarily a catcher and designated player, Chevalier also spent time at shortstop, second base, and first base and batted .347 during MWC games. She ranked among the top 10 in the conference with 3 home runs, 12 runs batted in, 30 total bases, a .612 slugging percentage, and 5 stolen bases.

Junior first baseman Teagan Delarwelle and freshman third baseman Cadence Dempsey were named Second Team All-MWC. Delarwelle hit .354, slugged .583, and tied for second in the league with three home runs and sixth with 14 runs batted in. Dempsey posted a .396 batting average and tied for first in the league with nine doubles during MWC games. She was also among the top 10 with 19 runs, 12 runs batted in, 21 hits, 36 total bases, a .697 slugging percentage, and six stolen bases.

Lake Forest went 26-14-1 overall this spring and won 12 of 16 conference games to place third in the standings. The Foresters qualified for their 23rd consecutive four-team MWC Tournament and finished third at the event last weekend.
