The Forester softball team swept a doubleheader with visiting Beloit College on Saturday, taking the opener 17-5 in five innings and game two 8-1.

Six different players on the team had at least three hits on the day and freshman third baseman Cadence Dempsey led the way with five, all of which went for extra bases. In the opener she became just the sixth player in program history with three doubles in a game. After doubling again in the first inning of game two, she belted her third home run of the season later in the contest. Dempsey scored four runs and drove in five during the doubleheader and her 13 doubles this season match the sixth-highest total in team history.

Senior right fielder Elena Chrisman also had four runs scored and five driven in on the day. She hit a grand slam in game one and recorded her 100th career hit on a leadoff triple in game two.

Junior first baseman Cheyenne Pellettiere and catcher Angelle Bills were each 3-for-3 in the doubleheader. Bills, who played shortstop in game two, had one of the team's eight doubles on the day and Pellettiere hit her first home run of the year.

Lake Forest senior pitcher Kristen Calhoun allowed just four base hits in five innings and earned the victory in the circle in the opener. She and Chrisman were also honored on the field between the Senior Day games.

Sophomore pitcher Hannah Smith went the distance in game two, surrendering just an unearned run on three hits while striking out three. She is now 10-3 this season and 19-10 in her career.

Lake Forest improved to 21-12 overall and 8-4 in Midwest Conference play while Beloit fell to 8-26 overall and 0-12 in the league.

The Foresters will travel to Lawrence University for a pair of game on Tuesday. First pitch of the opener is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
