The Forester softball team was defeated 5-1 and 9-1 by visiting Illinois College on Saturday.

Junior second baseman Angelle Bills accounted for two of the home team's four base hits in the opener. Her single in the bottom of the fifth sent freshman left fielder Brooke Sweicke to third base and freshman Emmie Nyen followed with a sacrifice fly to make the score 4-1.

The Lady Blues had scored the game's first run in the second inning and added to their lead with three in the top of the fifth. They tacked on one more in the sixth.

Five Lake Forest errors helped lead to six unearned runs in game two.

The score was 9-0 before a sacrifice fly by sophomore first baseman Cheyenne Pellettiere in the bottom of the sixth. The Foresters were unable to plate another run to extend the game to the seventh inning.

Freshman second baseman Kyla Chevalier had two of the Foresters' six hits in the contest. Senior right fielder Elena Chrisman's fifth inning double was their only extra base hit of the doubleheader.

The losses dropped Lake Forest's overall record to 12-8 and evened the team's Midwest Conference mark at 2-2. Illinois College improved to 11-10-1 overall and 4-0 in the league.

The Foresters will host a single non-conference game against Concordia University Chicago Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.
