Klein and Smith Earn All-Region Honors from NCFA

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced its 2022 NCAA Division III All-Region Teams on Monday and a pair of Foresters made the list.

Josie Klein was a Region IX Second Team selection after ranking among the top 40 in the nation with a program record 57 hits and 99 total bases. The senior outfielder was also listed among the national leaders with 42 runs scored, six triples, seven home runs, and 36 runs batted in, as well as a .460 batting average, .798 slugging percentage, and .534 on-base percentage on the season. She was also named First Team All-Midwest Conference and the MWC Position Player of the Year on May 8.

Pitcher Hannah Smith was named to the Region IX Third Team after finishing her freshman season 9-7 with a 3.06 earned run average and 65 strikeouts. Conference coaches also selected her as the MWC Pitcher and Newcomer of the Year earlier this month. She is the first Forester freshman to earn all-region honors since 2017.

The awards honor student-athletes from the Association's 10 regions with selection to one of three teams. NFCA member head coaches nominate and then vote for the winners in their respective region. All honorees move forward to be considered for selection for the three NFCA Division III All-America squads, which will be announced on May 24.
