Josie Klein Named Academic All-District®

Forester softball player Josie Klein was named recently named Academic All-District® by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Klein graduated from Lake Forest College with a 3.9 cumulative grade point average earlier this month. The double major in economics and psychology is a three-time Academic All-Midwest Conference honoree and was inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society last year.

On the field, the center fielder and pitcher led the Foresters and ranked among the national leaders with a .460 batting average, .798 slugging percentage, and .534 on-base percentage. She set a program record with 57 base hits and 99 total bases in 39 games this season and also finished with a team-high seven home runs, six triples, nine doubles, 21 walks, 10 stolen bases, 42 runs scored, and 36 RBI.

Klein was among 50 players to appear on the 2022 Schutt Sports/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III National Player and Pitcher of the Year awards list on April 8 and was named First Team All-MWC and the MWC Position Player of the Year a month later.

Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in June.
