The Lake Forest softball team's eight game winning streak was snapped by North Central College on Tuesday. The games were not part of Conference play.

The only hit for the Foresters in the opener of the twinbill came from a single from senior Josie Klein in the fourth inning. The opposing pitcher struck out 10 Foresters and allowed only one hit and one walk. Forester pitcher Hannah Smith also had a good game on the mound despite the loss; she allowed only five hits and struck out five on the day. The Cardinals won 2-0.

In the second game, Lake Forest was able to connect with the ball and rack up some runs. North Central got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the second, and the Foresters answered quickly, tying the score in the top of the third. Freshman Julia McMullen singled to get on base, and then fellow freshman Caeli Kinsella reached first due to interference. With runners on first and second, junior Elena Chrisman hit a double left, scoring McMullen and the first Forest run of the day. In the next at bat, Klein reach first on a fielder's choice, bringing in Kinsella and the tying run.

The Cardinals scored another run in the fourth and then what would be the winning run in the fifth. The Foresters' third and final run came in the top of the seventh when senior Hailey Boylan hit a single and drove in Kinsella, but with two outs already bagged, the North Central pitcher struck out the next batter and ended the game with the Foresters still a run behind. The Cardinals were able to hold onto their lead and win 4-3.

Lake Forest is now 16-12 for the season and remains 10-0 in Conference. North Central moves to 16-5 and remains 7-3 in their Conference play.

The Foresters travel to play against Ripon College on Friday, April 22 at 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.
