Josie Klein Named MWC Pitcher Performer of the Week

Lake Forest College softball player Josie Klein was named Midwest Conference Pitcher Performer of the Week on Monday, adding to her list of weekly awards from the league this season.

Klein tossed a complete game shutout as the Foresters defeated Cornell College 5-0 in the opener of Saturday's doubleheader. The senior scattered four base hits and three walks while striking out a pair of Ram hitters in the contest. She also had two hits of her own, including a double, and finished the game with two runs scored and one driven in.

After pitching just five-and-two-third innings as a freshman, Klein did not appear in the circle during the 2020 and 2021 seasons. She is 3-1 with a 3.15 earned run average in seven appearances this spring.

MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors. Klein, who usually plays center field and currently leads the league in numerous offensive categories, was named MWC Position Performer of the Week three times earlier this season and once in 2021.
