Freshman Hannah Smith was named Women's Forester Athlete of the Week on Tuesday for her impressive victories against Illinois College on Sunday.
Smith earned a pair of complete game victories as Lake Forest prevailed 10-1 in five innings in the opener and 4-1 in game two against preseason favorite Illinois.
She allowed a total of nine hits while striking out seven batters and walking three on the day.
The doubleheader sweep left the Foresters alone in first place in the MWC standings.
Forester Athletes of the Week are voted for by the athletic department on Tuesdays.
