Lake Forest College's Josie Klein was among 50 student-athletes to appear on the 2022 Schutt Sports/National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III National Player and Pitcher of the Year awards list, which was released on Thursday.

Klein is currently 22nd in the country with a slugging percentage of .883. The senior center fielder is also ranked nationally with a .450 batting average, .541 on-base percentage, 27 hits, five home runs, five triples, and 0.65 walks per game. In addition, she leads Lake Forest with 17 runs scored and 16 driven in.

A First Team All-Midwest Conference North Division selection and the Foresters' Most Valuable Player a season ago, Klein has already earned three MWC Position Performer of the week honors and been voted Forester Athlete of the Week twice in 2022.

Thursday's Top 50 list was compiled and the National Player and Pitcher of the Year awards are voted on by the elected members of the NFCA Division III All-American Committee.

The Top 25 finalists for the 2022 Schutt Sports/NFCA Division III National Player and Pitcher of the Year awards will be announced on May 10. A student-athlete does not have to be on the Top 50 list to be considered for the Top 25. The winner of each award will be announced on June 3, following the conclusion of the 2022 season.
