Josie Klein Repeats at MWC Position Performer of the Week

Lake Forest College softball player Josie Klein received her second straight Midwest Conference Position Performer of the Week award on Monday.

Klein turned in her first career four-hit game in Tuesday's doubleheader opener against Illinois Wesleyan University. Among her hits was a triple and she scored three runs and drove in one in the contest. After belting a two-run homer in the first inning of game two, the senior center fielder drew walks in each of her final three trips to the plate.

The Foresters split a twinbill with Washington University-St. Louis on Wednesday and Klein was 1-for-2 in both games. She added three more bases on balls on the day, including an intentional walk to finish the week having reached base in 13 of 15 trips to the plate.

Klein leads the league with 18 hits, 4 triples, and 30 total bases this season while pacing the Foresters with a .419 batting average, .490 on-base percentage, and .698 slugging percentage.

MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors. Klein also earned the award last Monday and once in 2021.
