Josie Klein Named MWC Position Performer of the Week

Lake Forest College softball player Josie Klein was named Midwest Conference Position Player of the Week on Monday for her performance during The Spring Games in Clermont, Florida, last week.

Klein led the Foresters with a .370 batting average as the team split eight games on the week. The senior center fielder belted a pair of triples and a double and she had multiple hits three times, including a three-hit performance against York College on March 7. Klein, who is now tied-for-sixth in program history with eight career triples, also scored four runs, drove in four, and stole four bases.

In addition to her exploits at the plate and on the bases, Klein pitched three-and-a-third scoreless innings to earn the victory in a 3-2 triumph over Northland College on Wednesday. She allowed just two base hits and a walk in her first appearance in the circle since April of 2019.

Klein is a .324 career hitter and 25 of her 57 base hits over the last four seasons have gone for extra bases.

MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors. Klein also earned the award once last season.
