Foresters Fall Twice on Day Two in Florida

The Lake Forest College softball team was defeated 7-0 by Bethany University and 7-1 by Alvernia University at The Spring Games in Clermont, Florida, on Tuesday.

Singles by sophomore right fielders Elena Chrisman and freshman third baseman Caeli Kinsella were the Foresters' only base hits against Bethany.

The Bison brought home single tallies in the second and third innings before breaking the game open with five runs in the fourth.

Lake Forest scored in the top of the first inning in the second game of the day. Senior center fielder Josie Klein doubled with one out, advanced to third on a single by senior left fielder Carlie Mertz, and scored on another base hit by senior catcher Hailey Boylan.

Alvernia tied the score in the bottom of the frame, took the lead in the third inning, and added two in the fourth, one in the fifth, and two more in the sixth.

The Foresters are now 3-2 on the young season while Bethany and Alvernia improved to 2-1.

Lake Forest will take on Aurora University Wednesday morning at 9:30 (ET) and Northland College at noon.
