Lake Forest softball put up six runs in the first inning on their way to an 8-1 victory over York College on Monday. It was the Foresters first game of the Spring Games in Clermont, Florida where the team traveled for their annual spring break.

Senior Josie Klein got the runs started for the Foresters when she hit a triple and brought home two runners. Senior Hailey Boylan then brough Klein home with double on a line drive to left field. With two outs, sophomore Abbie Caskey hit a single and Boylan was able to make it home. After Caskey advanced to second when the next batter, freshman Caeli Kinsella walked, freshman Kaylee Purgatorio hit a single to center field and brought Caskey home. Kinsella was the sixth and final run-scorer of the inning when junior Elena Chrisman hit a single to right field.

The Foresters were able to keep the Spartans scoreless until the fifth inning and never lost their lead.

Freshman pitcher Brooke Challe earned her second win of the season after pitching 4.2 innings.

The game was called in bottom of the sixth inning due to rain. The Foresters' game scheduled for immediately after was also canceled due to weather.

Lake Forest plays again on Tuesday when they will face Bethany College and Alvernia University.
