Junior rightfielder Maddie Trost had four base hits on Friday, including her first home run as a Forester, but the team was defeated 7-3 and 6-3 at home by the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.

Trost had one of Lake Forest's three base hits in the opener. The Foresters trailed 4-0 before senior shortstop Alyssa Grimm led off the bottom of the fifth inning with a home run to center to end the Warhawk starting pitcher's bid for a shutout, no-hitter, and perfect game.

After the visitors scored once in the top of the sixth to make the score 5-1, the Foresters plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame to cut the deficit in half. Senior Diamond Owens singled and senior centerfielder Maria Zepeda walked to start the frame. Owens later scored on a groundout and Zepeda on a wild pitch.

Whitewater, however got those two runs back in the top of the seventh and finished off the four-run victory.

Lake Forest took its first lead of the day with three runs in the second inning of game two. Trost led off with a solo home run and, after two Foresters were retired and Owens extended the inning with a single, Zepeda belted her second round-tripper of the year and 14th of her career to make the score 3-0.

The Warhawks began their comeback with a pair of runs in the top of the third inning and the visitors plated three more in the fourth to take a 5-3 lead. They added an insurance run in the seventh and, despite allowing at least one baserunner in every inning, kept the home team off the scoreboard in the final five frames.

The Foresters' record on the season now stands at 13-13 while Whitewater improved to 19-9.

Lake Forest will resume Midwest Conference play against St. Norbert College at home on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
