Lake Forest College's Missy Dieckman-Meyer and Maria Zepeda were named Midwest Conference Pitcher and Position Player of the Week, respectively, on Monday. They helped lead the Foresters to a 5-5 record at The Spring Games in Florida last week.

Lake Forest won four of the five games in which Dieckman-Meyer appeared last week. She earned her first career save in an 11-9 triumph over Wheaton College on Monday before allowing just one earned run over eight innings in Tuesday's 6-2 victory over Montclair State University. The junior's best performance of the week came on Wednesday, when she blanked Carroll University 1-0 on just two base hits and did not allow a Pioneer to reach second base. After striking out seven batters in a loss to Rowan University on Friday, Dieckman-Meyer pitched the first 5.1 innings of the team's 5-4 walk-off win over Hope College on Saturday.

The right-hander was 2-1 with a save on the week. She posted a 1.71 earned run average and struck out 19 batters while walking just three in 28.1 innings of work. Opponents hit just .200 against her on the trip.

Zepeda, a senior centerfielder, broke a pair of conference records in Florida, becoming the league's career leader in runs scored and bases on balls. The Foresters' leadoff hitter batted .261 and drew a dozen walks to finish the week with a .541 on-base percentage. She also scored nine runs, stole four bases, and recorded a pair of outfield assists.

Zepeda's best game at the plate came in the team's 3-0 victory over SUNY-Fredonia on Wednesday. She scored after leading off the contest with a triple, belted a two-run homer in the third inning, and added a single in the seventh to match her career-high with eight total bases. Zepeda also reached base six consecutive times via hit, walk, or hit by pitch on Friday in the team's losses to #9 Linfield College and Rowan.

MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league office.
