Alyssa Grimm Named MWC Position Player of the Week

Lake Forest College softball player Alyssa Grimm was named Midwest Conference Position Player of the Week on Monday after batting .400 in four games and scoring once in each contest over the weekend.

Grimm was 3-for-8 as the Foresters fell 6-5 in eight innings and 5-1 in seven to Buena Vista University on Saturday. The senior played shortstop and had a pair of base hits, including an RBI-double, in the opener before singling as the third baseman in game two.

Lake Forest defeated Concordia University Wisconsin 6-3 and Lakeland College 9-7 on Sunday and Grimm played shortstop in both contests. Grimm plated a run with a bunt single and added another base hit and a career-high three stolen bases in the opener. She also drove in two of the team's first three runs against Lakeland, one on a single in the opening frame and the other on a groundout in the second.

In addition to her accomplishments on offense, Grimm recorded seven putouts and seven assists in the field without committing an error.
