The Lake Forest College softball team appeared in the NCAA Regional Rankings and National Fastpitch Coaches Association Top 25 Poll this week.

The Foresters finished the regular season on Sunday with an 11-game winning streak and an overall record of 29-9. With victories in 17 of 18 Midwest Conference games the team captured its fourth league title in the last five seasons and 10th in program history. Lake Forest will host the four-team MWC Tournament this weekend and the winner of Saturday's championship game will earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

The ranking committee for the Great Lakes Region moved the Foresters up a spot to second this week behind Illinois Wesleyan University. Illinois College, one of the other three teams in this weekend's MWC Tournament, was also among the top eight in the regional rankings.

After appearing as one of the "others receiving votes" earlier this season, Lake Forest jumped up to #20 in this week's NCFA Division III Top 25 Poll. The Foresters have a victory this season over #10 St. Mary's College (Indiana) and a loss to #25 Amherst. The team is also 2-2 against the others receiving votes this week with a win over Luther College, a loss to Hope College, and a doubleheader split with Illinois Wesleyan.
