Lake Forest College softball player Hannah Kalnicky was named Midwest Conference Position Player of the Week on Monday for her performance in a pair of doubleheaders last week.

Kalnicky, a freshman shortstop, belted her first career home run on Wednesday, a three-run shot that gave the Foresters a 3-2 first-inning lead over Illinois Wesleyan University, the 16th-ranked team in the nation, in Wednesday's doubleheader opener. She came up with the bases loaded in the second and cleared the fence again for her second round-tripper of the contest. Lake Forest went on to win the game 10-4, thanks in large part to Kalnicky's seven runs batted in, which tied the fourth-highest single-game total in team history. It was the first multi-homer game by a Forester in nearly two years.

Kalnicky added a base hit in game two of the doubleheader, a 6-5 loss. Lake Forest also swept visiting Lawrence University 6-2 and 3-1 on Tuesday and Kalnicky was 3-for-5 with a double in the two games combined. She finished the four games with six hits and a walk in 13 plate appearances and raised her batting average on the season to .348 with a team-high nine doubles and 19 runs batted in.

MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors.
