Lake Forest College softball player Hannah Kalnicky was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after helping lead her team to a 3-1 record in doubleheaders the previous two days.

Kalnicky, a freshman shortstop, had a double and a walk in Tuesday's opener against Lawrence University, a 6-2 Forester victory. She was also 2-for-3 as the home team took game two 3-1.

Lake Forest split a doubleheader with Illinois Wesleyan University, the 16th-ranked team in the nation, on Wednesday. Kalnicky belted her first career home run, a three-run shot, to give the Foresters a 3-2 lead in the first inning of game one. She cleared the fence again for a grand slam in the second and the team went on to win 10-4. Illinois Wesleyan took game two 6-5, despite Kalnicky's game-tying single in the bottom of the third inning.

Kalnicky finished the four games with six hits and a walk in 13 plate appearances. Her seven runs batted in during Wednesday's opener matched the fourth-highest single-game total in program history and her multi-homer game was the first by a Forester since current senior Sydney Gardner accomplished the feat on April 16, 2016.

Kalnicky raised her batting average on the season to .348 and she leads the team with nine doubles and 19 runs batted in.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
