Foresters Fall Twice on Final Day in Florida

Sophomore first baseman Riley Frisbie went 5-for-8 at the plate on the day but the Lake Forest College softball team was defeated 7-2 by Amherst College and 7-1 by Hope College on Saturday.

Frisbie had three singles in the Foresters' first game of the day. She was one of two runners stranded in the first inning and the team left two more on base in the second. With Lake Forest trailing 3-0, Frisbie led off the third with another base hit and freshman pinch runner Erin Karasewski eventually came around to score on a double by freshman second baseman Hannah Kalnicky.

The score remained 3-1 until the Mammoths rallied for four more runs in the top of the seventh.

Frisbie singled in junior centerfielder Maria Zepeda in the bottom of the frame but it was not enough as Lake Forest left another runner on base in the inning for a total of eight in the contest.

Six other Forester had one base hit apiece but they were outnumbered 16-9 in that category.

Jut two of the six runs allowed by Lake Forest sophomore pitcher Missy Dieckman-Meyer were earned and she suffered her first loss after starting the season 5-0.

Frisbie and junior rightfielder Abby King accounted for five of the Foresters' eight base hits against Hope. King doubled twice in the game and scored the team's only run in the top of the seventh inning on a single by freshman Shaye Gauthier. Hope plated a run in the bottom of the first inning and two each in the third, fourth, and sixth.

Getting runners on base and into scoring position was not the problem for the Foresters, who left the bases loaded twice and stranded a total of 13 runners in the contest, including five at third base and four at second.

Saturday's losses dropped Lake Forest's record on the season to 9-5 while Amherst improved to 8-1 and Hope to 3-2.

The Foresters' first doubleheader after returning hope is scheduled for next Saturday against the University of Wisconsin-Stout. The Blue Devils, who also came to Lake Forest last year, will be the home team and the twinbill will begin at 1:00 p.m.
