Frisbie and Zepeda Earn All-Region Honors

The National Fastpitch Coaches Association released the 2017 NFCA Division III All-Region Teams on Monday and a pair of Foresters made the list for the Great Lakes Region.

First baseman Riley Frisbie was named to the second team after finishing her freshman season with a team-high .378 batting average. She also led Lake Forest with 45 hits, 9 home runs, 80 total bases, and a .672 slugging percentage. Frisbie reached base safely by hit or walk in all but five contests with 16 multi-hit performances. She started every game, compiled a .987 fielding percentage, and recorded 288 putouts, the fifth-highest total in program history.

Sophomore centerfielder Maria Zepeda was a third team all-region selection. She established a new team and Midwest Conference single-season record by scoring 51 runs, including at least one in 27 of the last 28 games. Zepeda also set a program record with 22 stolen bases, led the team with 22 walks and a .486 on-base percentage, belted four home runs, and recorded 10 outfield assists.

Lake Forest finished the 2017 season with an overall record of 22-16 and a league mark of 12-5. The Foresters qualified for the four-team MWC Tournament for the 18th year in a row before being eliminated on day two of the event. The team has now had at least one player named all-region four straight seasons and in 14 of the last 16 years.
