Five Foresters Earn All-MWC Honors

Lake Forest College freshman Riley Frisbie was named Midwest Conference Newcomer of the Year and joined four teammates on the All-Midwest Conference Softball Teams, which were announced by the league at the MWC Tournament on Saturday.

Frisbie, a first baseman, was also named First Team All-MWC and leads the conference with nine home runs and 80 total bases on the season. She also ranks second in the league with a .672 slugging percentage, tied-for-second with 31 runs batted in, sixth with a .468 on-base percentage, tied-for-sixth with 45 base hits, and tied-for-ninth with 25 runs scored.

Sophomore centerfielder Maria Zepeda joined Frisbie on the first team after setting a conference record with 51 runs scored on the season. She exceeded the previous mark by six and scored at least 14 more than any other player in the MWC this season. She also drew a league-high 22 walks and ranked second in the conference with a school record 22 stolen bases.

Junior second baseman Jillian Rashid, sophomore third baseman Alyssa Grimm, and freshman catcher Sydney Wyatt were named Second Team All-MWC. Rashid batted .318 and tied for the team lead with nine doubles on the year. Grimm hit .341 and drove in 20 runs. Wyatt threw out six runners attempting to steal and picked off five others from behind the plate.

Lake Forest, which has had at least five all-conference selections in each of the last three seasons, posted a 22-16 overall record and a league mark of 12-5 this year.
