Abby King Named Forester Athlete of the Week

Lake Forest College softball player Abby King was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday for her performance in the team's six games in the previous seven days.

King, a sophomore leftfielder, batted .438 with two doubles, a home run, and 10 runs batted in on the week. she also scored six runs, drew three walks, and stole a pair of bases. Her slugging percentage during that span was .750 and on-base percentage .526.

King's best performance statistically came in the Foresters' doubleheader sweep at Knox College, where she was 3-for-3 with a homer and five RBI in the opener and 1-for-2 with three more RBI in game two.

After dropping a pair of games at Cornell College on Saturday, the Foresters won twice at Knox on Sunday and at Ripon College on Tuesday to improve to 20-14 overall and 11-5 in Midwest Conference play this season.

King is now batting .337 with five home runs and leads Lake Forest with 33 runs batted in on the year.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
