Hemmer and McTague Sweep MWC Weekly Awards Again

For the second time in three weeks, Foresters Alex Hemmer and Jenny McTague were named Midwest Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, the league announced on Monday.

Hemmer, a senior catcher, was 3-for-7 with a double, triple, and five runs scored in 6-0 and 10-1 victories at Lawrence University on Saturday. McTague, a junior, pitched game two of the doubleheader, scattering seven hits while striking out five in the six-inning victory.

Lake Forest also won twice at St. Norbert College on Sunday. Hemmer had three more hits in five at-bats, including another triple, and she scored and drove in two runs apiece. McTague tossed two perfect innings of relief and earned the win in a 4-2 victory in game one. She then pitched her second no-hitter of the season in a 9-0 game two triumph, allowing just one baserunner on a throwing error in the second inning.

Hemmer batted .500 and scored seven runs on the weekend while calling pitches for a staff that allowed a total of just three runs. McTague posted a 3-0 record and a 0.47 earned run average in her three appearances.

MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's director of media and information. Hemmer and McTague also swept the league's weekly awards on April 18. McTague has now earned MWC Pitcher of the Week honors five times in her career.
