Softball player Sally Snarski earned her second straight Forester Athlete of the Week award on Thursday after helping lead the team to a 5-1 record in the previous seven days.

Snarski, a senior first baseman, started the week by going 2-for-3 with a home run in Lake Forest's 9-8 victory in game one of a doubleheader at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater last Thursday. She was also 1-for-3 and drove in a run in game two, a 14-11 loss that was called after five innings due to darkness.

The Foresters swept a pair of five-inning games against visiting Beloit College on Tuesday, taking the opener 9-0 and game two 13-1. Snarski drew walks and eventually came around to score in both of her plate appearances in the first contest before singling twice in as many at-bats in game two.

Finally, on Wednesday, Lake Forest defeated visiting Ripon College 11-3 in six innings in the opener and 9-1 in five in game two. Snarski belted a three-run homer in the first inning of game one and a two-run shot in the opening frame of game two. She finished the doubleheader 3-for-3 with three walks, four runs scored, six runs batted in, and a stolen base.

Snarski batted .727 and reached base safely in 15 of 18 plate appearances on the week. She also hit three home runs and drove in and scored eight runs apiece. Her seven walks on the week raised her career total to 60, which surpassed the previous program record of 59 set by Donna Lawler in 1985.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
