Softball player Jenny McTague was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday for her performance in a pair of doubleheaders in the previous seven days.

McTague, a junior pitcher, started the week by allowing just one earned run in a 4-2 game two loss to Illinois Wesleyan University, the 15th-ranked team in the nation, on Saturday. She struck out four batters in five-and-two-thirds innings in the contest.

Lake Forest swept visiting University of Chicago on Tuesday and McTague once again pitched game two. She struck out six batters without issuing a walk in the 8-0 five-inning victory. The Maroons' only baserunner came on an infield single with two outs in the fifth inning. McTague also drove in half of the Foresters' runs by belting a solo home run in the second inning and a three-run shot in the fourth.

Saturday's two-homer performance was the second of McTague's career and she is just the fourth player in program history to clear the fence more than once in a game. She also belted a pair of home runs while tossing a five-inning one-hit shutout against Grinnell College during the 2014 season. There have now been 23 multi-homer games in team history and McTague is the only player to accomplish the feat while pitching in that contest.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
