Lake Forest College softball player Jenny McTague was named Midwest Conference Pitcher of the Week on Monday for her performance in a pair of league doubleheaders in Iowa over the weekend.

McTague, a sophomore, won 6-1 in game two at Grinnell College and kept the Pioneers off the scoreboard until allowing an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh inning. She allowed just five base hits in the contest and struck out five batters without issuing a walk. McTague also had an inside-the-park home run and scored three times in the game.

Lake Forest also prevailed 7-1 at Cornell in game two on Sunday. For the second straight start, McTague did not surrender a run until the bottom of the seventh. The Rams managed just four hits and she struck out seven batters while walking one. She went 2-for-4 at the plate in the game after going 1-for-3 as the designated player in the doubleheader opener.

Batters hit just .176 against McTague on the weekend and she improved to 12-4 with a 1.64 earned run average and 80 strikeouts on the season.

MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's director of media and information. McTague also earned the award twice last season.
