Sally Snarski Named MWC Player of the Week

Lake Forest College softball player Sally Snarski was named Midwest Conference Player of the Week on Monday after helping lead the team to a 5-2 record during the previous seven days.

Snarski, a junior first baseman, started the week by batting 4-for-5 with a walk and two runs driven in during a doubleheader split with visiting Carthage College on Monday. Lake Forest fell 5-4 in the opener and won game two 10-6.

The Foresters won four of five games at the 2015 MWC Classic in Janesville, Wisconsin, over the weekend, beginning with Friday's 23-1 rout of Beloit College. Snarski singled in the first run of the game in the opening inning and also drew a pair of walks and scored twice in the contest.

Lake Forest blanked Ripon College 8-0 in five innings and defeated St. Norbert College 9-4 on Saturday. Snarski was 2-for-3 with a home run, two runs scored, and three driven in against Ripon. She added a run-scoring single, a walk, and a run scored in four plate appearances against St. Norbert.

Snarski's most productive game of the week came Sunday morning in a 12-4 six-inning triumph over Carroll University. She was 3-for-3 with two home runs, two walks, three runs scored, and three RBi in the game. She also reached safely via a base on balls in the team's 4-3 eight-inning loss to Lawrence University Sunday afternoon.

Snarski now leads Lake Forest with a .423 batting average, .548 on-base percentage, and .817 slugging percentage this season. She also ranks first on the squad with 30 runs batted in and her eight home runs are tied for the team lead.

MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's director of media and information. Snarski also earned the awerd twice last season.
