Whitney Leiderman, Softball

Softball player Whitney Leiderman was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after helping her team win three of five games at the Midwest Conference Classic last weekend.

Leiderman, a sophomore outfielder, batted .400 (8-for-20) in the five games combined and had at least one base hit in four of the contests. She also stole a pair of bases.

The Foresters defeated Lawrence University 19-3 on Saturday and Leiderman was 4-for-5 with three home runs in the contest, including a pair of three-run shots in the sixth inning. She became just the second player in program history with three homers in a single game and the first to hit two in one inning.

Lake Forest also defeated St. Norbert College 4-1 and Ripon College 5-0 on Friday. Leiderman was 2-for-7 with a run scored on the day. The Foresters fell 4-2 to Carroll University after defeating Lawrence on Saturday and dropped a 3-2 decision to Beloit College on Sunday. She had two base hits, including a double, against Beloit.

Leiderman is batting .333 this season and leads the team with five home runs, six doubles, a .603 slugging percentage, 22 runs scored, and 11 stolen bases.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Leiderman also earned the award twice last season.
