Lake Forest College softball player Jordan Ratliff (Petersburg,
Mich./Summerfield) was named Midwest Conference Pitcher of the Week
on Monday (April 19) for her performance in a pair of doubleheader
sweeps the previous weekend (April 17-18).
Ratliff, a freshman, began the weekend by allowing just one hit in
five shutout innings in the opener of a doubleheader at Illinois
College. She struck out two batters and walked just one as the
Foresters prevailed 7-1. Ratliff then held the Lady Blues without a
run on three hits in the final three innings of game two, a 5-2
Lake Forest win, to earn her second save of the season.
The Foresters' ace pitched a complete game in the
team's 6-3 triumph in the opener of a doubleheader at
Monmouth College on Sunday. She scattered seven base hits, struck
out five batters, and allowed just one earned run in the
contest.
Ratliff is now 9-4 with a 1.57 earned run average overall this
season and 3-1 with a 1.45 ERA in conference play.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's
sports information directors. Ratliff also earned the award on
March 30.
