MWC Sweeps Even Foresters' Overall Record at 8-8

The Lake Forest College men's tennis team won 9-0 at Illinois College in the morning at Monmouth College in the afternoon on Saturday.

Freshman Ian Villardi Venturini Barbosa did not drop a game during his three victories on the day. He and sophomore Kyle Lassen blanked Illinois College's #3 doubles team 8-0 and he took both sets 6-0 at #4 singles gainst the Blueboys and Fighting Scots.

Freshman George Ciuca and junior Eduardo Manuitt won 8-0 in both of their #2 doubles matches while senior Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk and sophomore Daniel Tulchinskiy doubled up their counterparts at #1 8-4 in the morning and rolling 8-0 at Monmouth.

Lake Forest's singles lineup of Vyshyvanyuk (#1), Tulchinskiy (#2), Ciuca (#3), Villardi Venturini Barbosa (#4), Lassen (#5), and senior Jacob Tilton (#6) combined to win 72 of 77 games at Illinois College. Monmouth had just four players and none were able to win a game against the Foresters' top four.

The victories evened Lake Forest's overall record this season at 8-8 and the team is now 3-1 in Midwest Conference play.

The Foresters will travel to Wisconsin next Saturday, where they will play at Lawrence University at 10:00 in the morning and Ripon at 3:00 p.m.
