Lake Forest Falls to Nation's Top-Ranked Team

The Forester men's tennis team was defeated 8-1 Friday evening by Case Western Reserve University, the top-ranked team in the nation, at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff.

Lake Forest's lone point came at #1 singles, where senior Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk, the 25th-ranked player in the Central Region, took both sets 6-3.

Two of the three doubles matches were close but the Foresters fell 8-5 at #1 and 8-6 at #3. The tightest match in singles was at #6, where Lake Forest senior Jacob Tilton was knocked off 6-3, 6-4.

The loss dropped the Foresters' record to 5-7 while Case Wester Reserve, who defeated the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire 9-0 earlier in the day, improved to 21-4.

Lake Forest will begin Midwest Conference play with a pair of home matches on Saturday. The team will host Grinnell College on campus at 9:00 in the morning and Cornell College at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff at 3:00 p.m.
