Foresters Celebrate Senior Day with Victory over Principia

The Lake Forest College men's tennis team hosted and defeated Principia College 8-1 Saturday evening at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff.

It was the Foresters' Senior Day and fourth-year players Jacob Tilton and Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk were honored between doubles and singles play.

Vushyvanyuk had helped the home team sweep the doubles competition, teaming with sophomore Daniel Tulchinskiy on an 8-2 victory at #1. Freshmen George Ciucu and Ian Villardi Venturini Barbosa came out on top 8-5 at #2 and Lake Forest's #3 tandem of sophomore Kyle Lassen and junior Eduardo Manuitt did not drop a game.

Ciuca was the first to finish in singles, defeating the Panthers' #3 player 6-0, 6-2. After Principia earned the point at #5, Vyshyvanyuk closed out the Panthers' top player 6-4, 6-0 to clinch the match. Tulchinskiy rolled 6-2, 6-0 at #2, Villardi Venturini Barbosa prevailed 6-1, 6-4 at #4, and Tilton finished the evening with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph at #6.

The Foresters evened their record on the season at 5-5 while Principia fell to 8-4.

Lake Forest will take on the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire next Saturday. The match will be played at the University of Chicago at 4:00 p.m.
