Lake Forest 2-0 on Spring Break after Comeback Win over Dickinson

The Forester men's tennis team posted a 6-3 victory over Dickinson College on Tuesday.

The contest did not start out well for Lake Forest, which dropped two of three doubles matches. The Foresters' only victorious duo was senior Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk and sophomore Daniel Tulchinskiy, who prevailed 8-3 at the top spot in the lineup.

Vyshyvanyuk then rolled in singles, taking both sets 6-1 over the Red Devils' top player to tie the match. Freshman George Ciuca won 6-3, 6-1 at #3 to put the Foresters on top but Dickinson earned the point at #2 and the teams were knotted once again.

Lake Forest regained the lead on freshman Ian Villardi Venturini Barbosa's narrow 6-7 (6-8), 6-4, (11-9) victory at #4 and then clinched the match when sophomore Kyle Lassen finished off a 6-2, 3-6, (10-8) triumph at #5. Senior Jacob Tilton tacked on a 6-4, 6-3 victory at #6 to close out the night.

The Foresters improved to 4-2 while Dickinson fell to 2-3.

Lake Forest's next match during the team's Spring Break trip to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, will be Thursday at 5:00 p.m. (EDT) against Principia College.
