Foresters Defeat Wartburg in Season's First Home Match

The Lake Forest College men's tennis team defeated visiting Wartburg College 8-1 Friday night at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff.

The Foresters took all three doubles matches, beginning with an 8-1 triumph at #2 by freshmen George Ciuca and Ian Villardi Venturini Barbosa. Senior Oleksyi and sophomore Daniel Tulchinskiy prevailed 8-5 at #1 and sophomore Kyle Lassen teamed up with freshman Kyle Lowe on an 8-7 (7-5) victory at #3.

Vyshyvanyuk did not drop a game at #1 singles and Ciucu clinched the match by taking both sets 6-1 at #3. Senior Jacob Tilton came out on top 6-1, 6-3 at #6 and Villardi Venturini Barbosa rolled 6-1, 6-2 at #4. The teams split a pair of third set tiebreakers with the Foresters' point coming from junior Eduardo Manuitt's 6-4, 2-6, (10-5) win at #5.

Lake Forest is now 1-2 and Wartburg 1-6 on the season.

The Foresters will host Illinois Institute of Technology next Saturday at 4:00 p.m.
