Lake Forest Blanks Illinois College, MWC Tourney is Next

The Forester men's tennis team hosted and defeated Illinois College 7-0 on Tuesday in the final regular season dual match of the spring.

Eight different Lake Forest players posted victories on the day, beginning with freshman Alec Nissen and Kyle Lassen's 8-1 triumph at #2 doubles. Junior Jacob Tilton and sophomore Eduardo Manuitt followed with an 8-2 win at #2.

In his final career appearance at home, senior Zach Cho defeated the Blueboys' #3 singles player 6-3, 6-0. Junior Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk took both sets 6-1 at the top of the lineup and Nissen clinched the match when he finished off a 6-3, 6-2 victory at #5. Freshman Anele Mayiga prevailed 6-1, 6-4 at #6 and classmate Daniel Tulchinskiy did not drop a game in his 8-0 pro set win at #2.

Matches at #1 doubles and #4 singles were not played.

The Foresters improved to 11-8 overall and finished their Midwest Conference schedule at 5-1 in the league. Illinois College fell to 1-17 overall and 0-6 in the conference.

Lake Forest will take on Ripon College in the semifinals of the MWC Tournament on Friday. The match will begin at noon and be played at Hitters SportsPlex in Middleton, Wisconsin. The rest of the league will join the four semifinalists for the MWC Individual Tournaments on Saturday and Sunday.
