Lake Forest Sweeps Monmouth 9-0

The Forester men's tennis team hosted and defeated Monmouth College 9-0 indoors at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff on Saturday.

Lake Forest players did not drop a game at four of the nine positions in the lineup, including both matches involving freshman Daniel Tulchinskiy. He rolled 6-0, 6-0 at #2 singles after teaming up with junior Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk on an 8-0 blanking of the Fighting Scots' top doubles team.

Freshmen Alec Nissen and Kyle Lassen also shut out their opponents at #3 doubles while junior Jacob Tilton and sophomore Eduardo Manuitt prevailed 8-2 at #2.

Tulchinsky was the first to finish in singles and Vyshyvanyuk, who took both sets 6-1 at #1, earned the clinching point for the home team. Lassen won 6-0, 6-1 at #5, senior Oliver Gallego posted a 6-1, 6-2 victory at #4, and senior Zach Cho came out on top of the closest match of the evening, a 6-1, 6-4 decision at #3. Freshman Anele Mayiga closed out the contest by winning ll 12 games of his match-up with the #6 player from Monmouth.

The Foresters evened their overall record on the year at 8-8 and climbed to 2-1 in Midwest Conference play. Monmouth fell to 0-10 overall and 0-3 in the league.

Lake Forest will continue MWC play at home next Saturday, hosting Lawrence University at 9:00 in the morning and Ripon College at 4:00 p.m.
