Lake Forest College men's tennis player Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Tuesday.
Vyshyvanyuk was undefeated at the top of the lineup as the Foresters split their MWC matches in Iowa on Saturday. Lake Forest started the day by blanking Cornell College 9-0 before dropping a 7-2 decision at Grinnell.
In the morning Vyshyvanyuk, a junior, teamed with freshman Daniel Tulchinskiy on an 8-4 victory at #1 doubles before defeating the Rams' top singles player 6-2, 6-4.
Vyshyvanyuk and Tulchinskiy also doubled up the top tandem from Grinnell College 8-4 in the afternoon. The Foresters' best player finished off the day with a 6-2, 7-5 triumph over his #1 singles counterpart from Grinnell, the 24th-ranked player in the region.
Vyshyvanyuk improved to 12-2 in singles and 10-5 in doubles during dual match play this year.
MWC Performers of the Week are selected by the league's sports information directors. Vyshyvanyuk also earned the award on March 22.
