Foresters Eke Out Narrow Victory over Gettysburg

A day after suffering a 5-4 defeat, the Lake Forest College men's tennis team came out on top by the same score against Gettysburg College on Wednesday.

The Foresters were ahead 2-1 after doubles play. Junior Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk and freshman Daniel Tulchinskiy posted an 8-4 victory at the top spot in the lineup while junior Jacob Tilton and sophomore Eduardo Manuitt prevailed 8-1 at #3.

The teams traded points throughout singles play, beginning with Bullets earning one at #3. Lake Forest pulled ahead on Manuitt's 6-3, 2-6, (10-2) win at #5 and again on Tilton's 7-5, 6-2 triumph at #4. The match was tied 4-4 until senior Oliver Gallego finished off a convincing 6-0, 6-1 victory at #6 to close out the contest.

The Foresters improved to 5-3 while handing Gettysburg its first loss in six contests this season.

After taking Thursday off, Lake Forest will close out its spring break trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina, against Morningside University Friday afternoon at 1:30 (ET).
