The Lake Forest College men's tennis team was narrowly defeated 5-4 by Pfeiffer University on Tuesday during the Foresters' spring break trip to Hilton Head, South Carolina.
The Falcons took two of the three doubles points with Lake Forest's lone win coming from junior Jacob Tilton and sophomore Eduardo Manuitt at #3, where they came out on top 8-5.
A 6-3, 6-0 triumph over Pfeiffer's top singles player by junior Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk tied the team score at two but losses at the next three spots in the order thwarted the comeback effort. Manuitt added a 6-3, 6-4 victory at #5 and senior Oliver Gallego closed out the contest with a 6-3, 6-2 win at #6.
The loss evened the Foresters' record on the season at 4-4 while Pfeiffer improved to 5-3.
Lake Forest will take on Gettysburg College Wednesday morning at 8:30 (ET).
