Men's tennis player junior Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk was named Men's Forester Athlete of the Week after his perofrmance in the team's match against Illinois Institute of Technology on Sunday. This is the second time this academic year that Vyshyvanyuk has earned the distinction.
With the Foresters and Scarlet Hawks tied in doubles play at one match each, Vyshyvanyuk and partner Daniel Tulchinskiy pulled out the match win 8-7 (7-4 tiebreaker) at #1, which gave Lake Forest the match lead heading into the singles competition.
As Vyshyvanyuk geared up for his singles match, the score was tied at four a piece. That left Vyshyvanyuk and his counterpart at #1 to decide the match and the Forester edged him out 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 6-4.
The Forester Athletes of the Week are voted for by the athletic department on Tuesdays.
