This weeks men's Forester Athlete of the Week is awarded to junior Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk for his performance at the two-day Whitewater Fall Invitational on Friday and Saturday, September 10-11.
Vyshyvanyuk drew the number one seed in the first round and prevailed 6-4, 6-0 in his first match of the day and battled to a 6-2, 6-7 (4-7), (10-6) triumph in the fifth-place match. Vyshyvanyuk had dropped a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 decision during Friday's opening round to who turned out to be the Invitational eventual champion.
Vyshyvanyuk then teamed up with freshman Daniel Tulchinckiy and accounted for one of the Foresters' two opening round victories on Friday, coming out on top 6-2 in the second flight of doubles.
The Forester Athletes of the Week are voted for by the Athletic Department on Tuesdays.
