Lake Forest Opens 2021-22 at Warhawk Fall Invitational

The Forester men's tennis team took on tough competition over the weekend at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's Warhawk Fall Invitational.

Junior Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk turned in a pair of victories in the event's top flight on Saturday. He prevailed 6-4, 6-0 in his first match of the day and battled to a 6-2, 6-7 (4-7), (10-6) triumph in the fifth-place match. Vyshyvanyuk had dropped a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 decision during Friday's opening round in what turned out to be the eventual champion's closest match of the weekend. 

Vyshyvanyuk and freshman Daniel Tulchinckiy accounted for one of the Foresters' two opening round victories on Friday, coming out on top 6-2 in the second flight of doubles. Sophomore Eduardo Manuitt's 7-6 (8-6), 1-6, (11-9) win in the #6 singles draw was the other.

Tulchinskiy won 6-2, 6-3 in Saturday's seventh-place match in the #3 singles bracket and freshman Alec Nissen earned the same place in the #5 singles bracket with a 7-5, 6-4 triumph. Junior Jacob Tilton and freshman Kyle Lassen prevailed 6-2 in the third-place match at #3 doubles. Freshman Anele Mayiga posted a 6-4, 6-2 victory in the #7 singles division on Saturday and teamed with Nissen to double up Cho and Manuitt 6-3 in the #4 doubles draw.

The Foresters will play their first dual match of the year at Milwaukee School of Engineering next Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
