Foresters Fall to Grinnell in MWC Championship Match

The Lake Forest College men's tennis team had its six-match winning streak come to an end in Friday's Midwest Conference Championship Match against Grinnell College. The Pioneers prevailed 5-0.

The closest of the three doubles matches was at #1, where Forester sophomore Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk and senior Chase Garber were edged out 8-5. Grinnell did not drop a game at #2 and won 8-1 at #3.

The Pioneers inched closer to the title with a victory at #5 and a triumph at #2 clinched the contest.

Grinnell players had taken the first set at three of the other four positions in the singles lineup. The exception was at #1, where Vyshyvanyuk had come out on top 6-2.

Lake Forest finished the season 6-3 while Grinnell heads into the NCAA Division III Tournament undefeated in nine matches.

The Foresters will lose Garber, Brant Christensen, Aidan Burke, and Matthew Pawlowski to graduation later this month.
