Blanking of St. Norbert Sends Lake Forest to MWC Championship Match

The Forester men's tennis team will play for a Midwest Conference championship next Saturday after defeating visiting St. Norbert College 9-0 in Saturday's MWC North Division Tournament final.

Junior Matthew Pawlowski and senior Aidan Burke earned the home team's first point, defeating the Green Knights' #3 doubles team without dropping a game. Sophomore Aleksyi Vyshyvanyuk and senior Chase Garber then finished off an 8-3 triumph at the top of the lineup and sophomore Jacob Tilton and senior Brant Christensen doubles up their opponents 8-4 at #2.

Vyshyvanyuk remained perfect at #1 singles this spring after prevailing 6-2, 6-1 and the Foresters clinched Saturday's match when junior Zach Cho closed out his 6-4, 6-2 victory at #4. Garber won 6-1, 6-2 at #2 and senior Oliver Gallego took both sets 6-2 at #6. Freshman Eduardo Manuitt came out on top 6-2, 6-4 at #5 and Tilton finished things off with a 6-1, 6-3 win at #3.

Lake Forest improved to 6-2 on the season while St. Norbert finished the spring 3-6.

The Foresters will take on Grinnell College in next Saturday's MWC Championship Match.
