Foresters Take Late Night Match with Calvin

Freshman Jacob Tilton was one of four Lake Forest players to win twice Thursday night as the team defeated Calvin College at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff.

Tilton and junior Brant Christensen defeated the Knights' #2 doubles team 8-5, giving the home team a 2-1 lead going into singles play. Freshman Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk and senior Chase Garner had already prevailed 8-1 at #1.

Vyshyvanyuk was the first to finish in singles, knocking off the top player from Calvin 6-3, 7-5. Junior Oliver Gallego then finished off a 7-5, 6-1 triumph at #4 before the visitors earned the point at #5. The clinching point came from Christensen at #6, where he took both sets 6-4. Garber and Tilton edged out their opponents 6-3, 4-6, (10-8) at #3 and 6-4, 4-6, (10-2) at #2, respectively.

The win improved the Foresters' record on the season to 4-2 while Calvin fell to 0-2.

Lake Forest will play a pair of matches in Racine, Wisconsin, on Saturday, taking on the Univrersity of Wisconsin-Eau Claire at noon and host Carthage College at 3:00 p.m.
